About The Position

A global engineering and O&M company is hiring a Senior Process Engineer to own process performance at a large new industrial wastewater treatment and water reuse plant in Central Texas. This is an operations role based at the plant, working alongside operators, rather than a design role. The engineer will operate the plant's process using live data, including set points, chemistry, mass balance, and troubleshooting across physicochemical, biological, membrane, and thermal zero liquid discharge (ZLD) stages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or environmental engineering, chemistry, biology, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience as a process engineer, performance engineer, or operations specialist at an industrial wastewater or advanced water treatment facility.
  • 3+ years tuning complex industrial wastewater streams such as heavy metals, fluoride, organics, or TMAH.
  • Hands-on management of operating parameters for thermal evaporators (MVR/TVR) and crystallizers.
  • Data-driven troubleshooting using SCADA and trend data, with a record of reducing operating costs.
  • TCEQ Class B wastewater license or higher.

Nice To Haves

  • Semiconductor wastewater treatment or reuse commissioning and operations experience.
  • Process design experience with PFDs, P&IDs, and calculation sheets.
  • Operations experience with a global water O&M or water technology company.
  • PE license.
  • WEF or AWWA certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize process parameters and set points across the treatment train through SCADA/HMI, including chemical precipitation, ozone AOP, ammonia stripping, MBR, RO reuse, and ZLD evaporation and crystallization.
  • Lead technical reviews of process changes through management of change.
  • Run jar testing and set chemical dosing protocols to optimize chemical use.
  • Maintain and audit the whole-plant mass balance and address differences between design and actual operation.
  • Lead root cause analysis for water quality deviations, membrane fouling, evaporator scaling, and process upsets; raise maintenance work through the CMMS.
  • Plan cleaning, regeneration, and media, filter, and resin replacement based on performance data.
  • Write and update SOPs, technical manuals, and water quality emergency response procedures.
  • Train shift operators.
  • Provide control settings to the Operation Manager and work with PLC engineers on control logic changes.
