Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant scientific degree
  • 8-12+ years of related technical experience in mill, production or staff engineering environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific, technical knowledge and process expertise in rolled and folded tissue and/or towel manufacturing processes.
  • Prior experience in a variety of plant and staff assignments, ideally including maintenance and operations.
  • Familiarity with machine startups.
  • Experience working with external technical service providers and original equipment manufacturers.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to mine process data from process data systems and provide clear direction as to opportunity areas for improvement.
  • Experience in improving the operation of high-speed manufacturing and/or converting equipment and processes.
  • Evidence of continuing self-development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and coach less-experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, or consult on capital process improvement projects with a financial scope of up to $100 million from conception through commercialization.
  • Provide functional leadership and creativity in the initiation, design, development, and optimization of manufacturing and converting equipment and processes to meet safety and OEE objectives.
  • Develop knowledge and skills in leadership of the application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and project management.
  • Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines.
  • Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel.
  • Identify complex technical issues and provide necessary solutions to eliminate root cause.
  • Conceive, develop, validate, and share ideas leading to new or improved products, processes, materials, systems or scientific knowledge aligned with business unit objectives.
  • Coach and mentor team members to increase technical understanding of equipment and processes and their ability to execute programs to improve NA tissue value stream business results.
  • Share expertise and provide coaching to build team capability.
  • Drive a culture of protected and documented innovation to protect and defend K-C proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
  • This includes completing required project documentation through EFS, EDR, and Appropriation activities and following PMP documentation including Corporate Financial Instructions (CFIs).
