The Senior Process Engineer will lead the process engineering effort on EPFC (engineer, procure, fabricate, construct) projects and provide guidance to less experienced process engineers. Work spans multiple sectors, including Oil & Gas, Refineries, Pharma, and Alternative Energy. Responsibilities include developing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Material Balances, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process simulations, equipment datasheets, and calculations to support projects.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Process simulation development experience
  • Knowledge of PFDs and P&IDs
  • Experience leading project development
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based programs
  • Ability to work flexible hours and occasional weekends
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 8–15 years of process engineering experience
  • EIT registration or desire to obtain Professional Certification
  • Experience with Management of Change (MOC)
  • Experience evaluating new technology
  • Experience developing small teams
  • Strong process, mechanical, and electrical aptitude with hands-on experience
  • Effective time management skills across multiple projects, personal conduct, and change management abilities
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts

Responsibilities

  • Provide process support for new projects, including developing process simulations and new models for complex projects, developing material and energy balances for complex projects, leading development of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), managing process requirements for equipment selection, acting as subject matter expert in Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), managing project permitting with clients, coordinating and leading shop inspections, field commissioning, and project startup, managing technology selection or developing new technology as needed, coordinating proposal development for new projects, leading improvements in work processes, developing subject matter expertise in key areas, and participating in internal and external project meetings.
  • Mentor and lead other process engineering team members.
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with company requirements.
  • Promote a positive working environment to achieve organizational goals.
  • Travel domestically and internationally, ranging from 10-20% per year, with potential for increased travel during project start-up periods.
