The California Water Business team is seeking an experienced Senior Process Design Engineer to join its growing operations in California. This role involves collaborating within a supportive team to deliver innovative solutions for municipal and private sector clients. The engineer will apply their expertise to a variety of projects, including large municipal water/wastewater treatment facility upgrades, local system upgrades, and feasibility studies, operating within the global Resilience business area.

Requirements

  • Proficient in mechanical design standards.
  • Experience in design bid-build or alternative delivery projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of CAD and BIM.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
  • B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
  • 10 years of relevant experience in process mechanical engineering for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of California.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical or Civil P.E. preferred.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in process mechanical engineering for water and wastewater facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead innovative mechanical design and process integration for cutting-edge treatment facilities, reservoirs, and pumping or lift stations.
  • Drive the development of comprehensive construction documents and detailed specifications for critical systems, including pumps, valves, gates, and other mechanical components.
  • Establish the basis of design, complete in-depth calculations, and deliver robust solutions tailored to each project’s unique challenges.
  • Perform thorough assessments, meticulously size and select equipment.
  • Develop and evaluate design options with accurate cost estimates.
  • Prepare technical memoranda to clearly document rationale and recommendations.
  • Lead seamless coordination among various engineering disciplines to ensure a fully integrated design approach.
  • Develop process flow narratives.
  • Conduct hydraulic analyses.
  • Play an active role in project management activities such as budget and schedule tracking.
  • Support business development efforts.
  • Contribute to compelling proposals.
  • Inspire the next generation by mentoring junior engineers.
  • Ensure rigorous quality control reviews.
