About The Position

The Senior Procedural Radiologic Technologist must be competent in high complexity procedural care as the assistant to the Interventionalist. This technologist must have additional training as described in the responsibilities below. This technologist must also have more than one year of procedural experience. As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties. Requirements

  • Active, effective preceptor for new associates and students (Cath Lab, EP Lab, Neuro Interventional).
  • Competent to scrub and circulate all coronary cases including complex PCI and brachytherapy; Ventricular assist devices (IABP, IMPELLA and ECMO); all peripheral vascular cases including venous procedures (IVC reconstruction) and all Structural Heart Procedures including aortic and mitral valves and ASD/PFO. Must rotate through all labs including the HVL at least twice a month (Cath Lab Specific).
  • Competent to float to Arrythmia Services and Hybrid Lab to assist with procedures (Cath Lab Specific).
  • Competent to scrub and circulate all complex ablations including afib and VT, laser lead extractions, and Structural Heart Procedures (EP Specific).
  • Competent to float to Hybrid Lab to assist with lead extraction procedures outside of our unit (EP Specific).
  • Competent to scrub and circulate all special angiographic procedures including but not limited to: Y-90, (Trans jugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt) TIPSS, Chemoembolization, Uterine Artery embolization (UAE) and GI Bleeds (VIR Specific).
  • Competent to scrub and circulate all Neuro cases including mechanical stroke (Neuro Interventional Specific).
  • State of Ohio Radiologic Licensure.
  • ARRT Registry.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique.
  • At least 1 year in a hospital procedural radiology department.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association.
  • LIC - Licensed in Field - State of Ohio.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the X-ray equipment in use, hemodynamic monitoring, coronary and peripheral anatomy, sterile technique and knowledgeable of all inventory items and equipment in the department (Cath Lab Specific).
  • Knowledge of the X-ray equipment in use, arrhythmia monitoring, cardio structures, anatomy of the heart chambers, sterile technique, and be knowledgeable of all inventory items and equipment in the department (EP Specific).
  • Knowledge of the imaging equipment in use, vascular anatomy, sterile technique, and be knowledgeable of all inventory items and equipment in the department (VIR Specific).
  • Knowledge of the X-ray equipment in use, hemodynamic monitoring, cerebral angiogram coiling, avascular malformations, stroke interventions and sterile technique and be knowledgeable of all inventory items and equipment in the department (Neuro Interventional Specific).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Interventionalist in high complexity procedural care.
  • Provide additional training as described in the responsibilities.
  • Greet patients upon arrival to the department.
  • Check charts for required data (i.e., informed consent).
  • Report absences or abnormalities to the RN/physician.
  • Explain procedures, give instructions, and answer patients' questions.
  • Participate in room turnover and transporting of patients.
  • Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in QA of labs and radiation protective apparel on a regular basis.
  • Perform tasks using radiation safety principles.
  • Check lead aprons for tears; report findings and remove inadequate gear from service.
  • Maintain accurate records or work with the Radiology department to maintain records.
