About The Position

This is an 8-month fixed-term contract opportunity for a Senior Privacy Officer focused on supporting the One Endeavour transformation program and ensuring Endeavour's privacy compliance across technology and data projects. The role is hybrid, primarily remote within Australia (ideally Melbourne or Sydney), and reports to the Privacy Lead with a dotted line to the Head of Transformation - Data & Analytics. The contract is expected to end in mid to late December 2026. The role involves providing expert privacy advice, conducting privacy impact and threshold assessments, supporting policy development, managing privacy incidents, and delivering privacy training. A key aspect is collaborating with cross-functional teams to foster a privacy culture, embed privacy by design, and contribute to strategic initiatives concerning data privacy and the responsible use of data and AI. Requirements

  • Strong understanding of privacy law.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
  • Self-starter who thrives on responsibility and is keen to deepen privacy skills.
  • 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in privacy/technology/commercial law or in a privacy regulatory/compliance role.
  • Legal qualifications and training are essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to draft privacy advice, conduct privacy impact assessments, and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organisational/project management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, in a fast-paced environment, manage a host of matters and deliver timely and commercial, risk-based, advice.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with privacy frameworks and data governance principles.
  • A keen interest in data, AI, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work as part of a close-knit team, collaborate and share knowledge and support with more junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert privacy advice.
  • Conduct complex privacy impact assessments and privacy threshold assessments.
  • Support the Privacy team in developing and maintaining policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Assist in the management of privacy incidents and regulatory notifications.
  • Deliver privacy advice and privacy training and education to the business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technology, Data & AI, Legal, Cyber, Compliance, and Data Governance, to strengthen privacy culture and awareness.
  • Contribute to embedding privacy by design across the organisation.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives related to data privacy, including the responsible use of data and AI.
