About The Position

This role involves leading the physical and electrical integration of the LRSO weapon system across various USAF platforms. The successful candidate will serve as the Program Interface Manager and primary Point of Contact (POC), collaborating with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), prime contractors, external aircraft programs, joint agencies, and warfighters throughout the weapon lifecycle. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining the Interface Control Document (ICD), defining message traffic, and authoring Interface Change Notices. The position requires providing oversight and technical management for mission system applications, facilitating and participating in critical engineering integration meetings, and acting as the Gatekeeper for engineering integration activities. This includes facilitating integration and engineering test build events, removing administrative and engineering barriers, escalating integration issues, planning and scheduling resources, and reporting on integration and test status. A strong understanding of airworthiness and nuclear certification processes is essential, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, airworthiness, systems engineering, and Foreign Disclosure requirements. The role also involves advising leadership on cost, schedule, and performance risks, providing mitigation strategies, and supporting weapon system activities at System Integration Laboratory (SIL) events. Maintaining expertise in MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-1553, and other USG Universal Armament Interface (UAI) requirements is crucial, along with ensuring this expertise is retained within the office. Specific electrical experience includes IDD development, weapons module design/integration, systems integration requirements, and aircraft interface standards. Physical experience involves launchers, carriage equipment, separation, and fitment analysis.

15+ years of relevant experience in Air Force acquisitions, multi-faceted tests and test project teams, and USAF weapon system integration and test programs.
Proven experience in aviation system design, development, integration, test and evaluation, aerospace duties, and/or related technical work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing technical content to senior leadership.
Strong customer service skills; being able to work with personnel across multiple disciplines and organizations.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Ability to work well in a cross-disciplinary team with other engineers and military operators.
Ability to apply expert knowledge and proactively work independently.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, “tip of the spear” environment.
Demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to evolving mission and technical requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products.
Understanding and application of airworthiness process.
Understanding and application of nuclear certification process.
US Citizenship.
Must possess an active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SAP and SCI eligibility.

Nice To Haves

Experience with open architecture frameworks and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
Integration of nuclear weapons systems and nuclear certification process relative to B-52, B-2, and B21 platforms.
Familiarity with agile development and systems engineering tools such as Atlassian Suite and Cameo.
INCOSE ASEP or similar systems engineering certification desired.

Responsibilities

Lead LRSO weapon system physical/electrical aircraft integration across various USAF threshold and objective platforms.
Serve as Program Interface Manager and primary Point of Contact (POC), collaborating with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), prime contractors, external aircraft programs, joint agency and Major Command warfighter throughout the weapon lifecycle.
Develop, maintain, and update the Interface Control Document (ICD), define message traffic, and author Interface Change Notices.
Provide oversight and technical management for mission system applications.
Facilitate and participate in key engineering integration meetings: Milestone design and technical reviews, Team Lead Meetings, Material Improvement Program Review Boards, Interface Control Working Groups, Engineering and Crew Station Working Groups, Lead System Integrator Technical Engagements, Integrated Test Team Meetings.
Act as the Gatekeeper for engineering integration activities.
Facilitate integration and engineering test build events.
Knock down administrative and engineering barriers.
Raise integration issues to technical and programmatic POCs and/or leadership for decision/action.
Plan and schedule resources to support integration and test.
Report on status of ongoing integration and test.
Ensure all activities comply with safety, environmental, airworthiness, systems engineering, and Foreign Disclosure requirements.
Advise leadership by proactively identifying cost, schedule, and performance risks, and provide actionable mitigation strategies to reduce time-to-flight and integration lead times.
Provide weapon system support at System Integration Laboratory (SIL) events, reviewing procedures and reports.
Proactively resolve integration issues for nuclear capable systems to improve reliability, survivability, and lethality in a rapid fielding environment.
Maintain mastery and serve as the office authority for MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-1553, and other USG Universal Armament Interface (UAI) requirements and protocols.
Ensure the longevity of this technical expertise within the office.
Electrical – familiarity with IDD development processes and requirements, weapons module design/integration, systems integration requirements, and a/c interface standards /requirements.
Physical – experience with launchers, carriage equipment and separation, fitment analysis.
