Senior Principal Technical PM, AI Security

F5 Networks•San Jose, CA

About The Position

At F5, the Senior Principal Technical Product Manager (TPM) for AI Security leads the 0-to-1 product strategy, ecosystem integrations, and secure deployment architecture for the next-generation AI security portfolio. The role operates at the intersection of AI model providers, strategic design partners, and internal Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) teams to co-develop advanced security frameworks and support their deployment in complex enterprise environments. The position owns technical interfaces, joint roadmaps, and secure integrations with leading LLM and foundation model providers. It also governs integrations involving MCP gateways, agentic identity, real-time guardrails, and automated red-teaming pipelines. Working closely with FDEs and enterprise design partners, the TPM translates field deployment challenges and customer feedback into platform requirements and model development roadmaps.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in technical product management, systems architecture, or engineering in cybersecurity, cloud security, or platform engineering.
  • At least 3 years dedicated to AI/ML security or engineering.
  • Practical understanding of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) specification, remote MCP server governance, and secure routing protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or LlamaIndex.
  • Strong understanding of Workload Identity, Non-Human Identity (NHI) governance, and machine-to-machine OAuth.
  • Thorough understanding of active defense mechanics such as Llama Guard and NeMo Guardrails, prompt injection defense, data extraction prevention, and automated red-teaming/evaluation tools.
  • Ability to write precise technical specifications, architectural diagrams, and code snippets.
  • Ability to communicate security posture to enterprise CISOs and Chief AI Officers in customer briefings.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent highly technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical product partnerships with major foundation model providers to co-develop secure-by-design API standards, secure context passing, and zero-trust data boundaries.
  • Align emerging security frameworks and ensure runtime guardrails, prompt shields, and firewall systems are natively integrated or optimized for leading frontier models.
  • Define technical requirements and prototypes for advanced AI security features integrating with the AI Gateway and Model Context Protocol (MCP) Gateway.
  • Secure the data plane between agents, client applications, and external LLM tools.
  • Work with the broader product team to productize AI security controls, including AI guardrails, automated LLM red-teaming and evaluation pipelines, and data loss prevention (DLP).
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for enterprise design partners during early-stage, high-complexity rollouts.
  • Collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineers to architect, install, and troubleshoot complex production-grade AI applications.
  • Translate field telemetry, custom deployment architectures, and customer friction points into core platform requirements and the model development roadmap.
