About The Position

Raytheon’s Airborne Sensor RF Design Department is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to work onsite at the McKinney, Texas location. The candidate will perform mechanical design, test, integration and documentation tasks for RF systems and sub-systems. The qualified candidate will have extensive engineering experience related to development, procurement and manufacture of critical assemblies, subassemblies and parts. The role requires a high level of execution expertise across multiple functions including engineering, operations, and supply chain coupled with the ability to lead a team of engineers who engage with the supply base. This role leads a team of engineers across multiple disciplines who work to ensure that our factories receive compliant material on schedule.

Requirements

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience.
  • Experience with mechanical design and integration of RF systems or subsystems.
  • Experience with bid solicitation and contract negotiations
  • Experience leading or managing a team
  • Experience managing Suppliers
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting international suppliers is a plus
  • Expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • May have deep knowledge of project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program and functional leadership to ensure that technical goals are met.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
  • Meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for their work products.
  • Experience working with and directing suppliers is required.
  • Key expertise includes bid solicitation, contract negotiations, production support, and issue resolution.
  • Lead an international supplier of a critical mechanical assembly.
  • Work closely with Raytheon factories and coordinate internal and supplier production schedules such that suppliers deliver their material on time to meet production.
