About The Position

Raytheon’s Airborne Sensor RF Design Department is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to work onsite at the McKinney, Texas location. The candidate will perform mechanical design, test, integration and documentation tasks for RF systems and sub-systems. The qualified candidate will have extensive engineering experience related to development, procurement and manufacture of critical assemblies, subassemblies and parts. The role requires a high level of execution expertise across multiple functions including engineering, operations, and supply chain coupled with the ability to lead a team of engineers who engage with the supply base. This role leads a team of engineers across multiple disciplines who work to ensure that our factories receive compliant material on schedule.

Requirements

Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience.
Experience with mechanical design and integration of RF systems or subsystems.
Experience with bid solicitation and contract negotiations
Experience leading or managing a team
Experience managing Suppliers
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Experience supporting international suppliers is a plus
Expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have deep knowledge of project management.
Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems.

Responsibilities

Follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program and functional leadership to ensure that technical goals are met.
Develop and implement technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
Meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for their work products.
Experience working with and directing suppliers is required.
Key expertise includes bid solicitation, contract negotiations, production support, and issue resolution.
Lead an international supplier of a critical mechanical assembly.
Work closely with Raytheon factories and coordinate internal and supplier production schedules such that suppliers deliver their material on time to meet production.
