About The Position

The Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) software department within Raytheon is looking for a Senior Principal Software Engineer, Responsible Software Engineer for the Ground-Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program. The department’s mission is to provide world-class Missile Defense and Surveillance Radar Software to be used in radar systems deployed on land and sea. Our software teams employ Agile Scrum and DevSecOps processes to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms. The candidate will be responsible for a team of software engineers. This position requires an understanding of Earned Value Management and the ability to coordinate activities across multiple, competing priorities.

Requirements

Typically requires a bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years or prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Experience with development frameworks such as Agile Scrum and SAFe.
Experience with understanding of the integration of Agile and Earned Value (EV) Management.
Experience with a DevOps framework for development using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Azure, Jenkins, Coverity and/or other tools.
The ability to obtain and maintain an interim Secret U.S. security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Experience interfacing with customers and lead technical solutions with complex user requirements.

Experience with Software Leadership and/or Software Architecture on complex, large scale systems or a related industry certification.
Experience on XBR, AN/TPY-2, COBRA DANE, QEWR, UEWR, SRP or radar data processing domain knowledge.
Experience with Software Development in a DoD environment.
Experience with cost estimation and developing government technical proposals.
Experience with Integrated Product Development System (IPDS) and/or Raytheon Lifecycle Program Management (RLPM).
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements and competing priorities.
Experience with communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Manage subcontractors contributing to the software baseline, including agile planning, EV, cost, and schedule oversight.
Manage the cost, schedule, and technical performance of the software team(s).
Work closely with stakeholders to ensure team priorities are aligned with program execution and the software build plan.
Manage SW CAM activities such as EV reporting, LRE preparations and analysis, BCR preparations, and Jira updates associated with processed BCRs.
Support SW Risk and Opportunity identification, creation, management and execution.
Software financial status reporting to PMO, USG, department, RTN Engineering and IPTs.
EAC development and presentation to appropriate discipline levels.
Coordination and execution of all new business development activities and new program baselining.
Development, maintenance and communication of software staffing plans.
