Collins Aerospace is looking for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer with a passion for engineering and the desire to provide leadership to the Assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing (APNT) Solutions software team. The team is responsible for architecting, designing, and developing software for real-time embedded navigation and timing solutions for military ground, airborne, and maritime applications. This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of Assured PNT systems architecture, and to apply that knowledge in a team effort to develop our navigation products for the warfighter. Collins Aerospace continues to build on a strong history of providing navigation equipment to meet the evolving needs of commercial and military users. Our navigation solutions provide enhanced situational awareness and pinpoint accuracy for airborne and surface missions worldwide allowing users of our equipment to complete their mission and return home safe.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in GPS and/or Antenna Electronics development
  • Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT)
  • Bidding, planning, and managing project budget, schedule, and scope
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework and DevSecOps
  • Software development experience with C, C++, and Python
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Docker, Artifactory, GitLab pipelines, and more

Responsibilities

  • You will contribute to and lead the software development execution in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • You will lead a software team culture emphasizing growth in technical and process
  • You will lead a software team through a modernization effort in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
  • You may provide project execution management including detail planning, cost account management, status and analysis, while also participating in software/system design and implementation activities
  • You will adapt to dynamic environments and foster collaborative relationships through strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • You will lead and manage the engineering bid and planning process for a software engineering team
  • You will participate in and facilitate Agile team ceremonies, Agile sprint reviews, user story refinement and end of sprint product demos and retrospective reviews
  • You will provide communication and status to relevant stakeholders
  • You may lead disciplined and systematic root cause analyses
  • You will help drive resolution for technical issues through problem-solving and coordination across impacted teams, which may include
