About The Position

Geosyntec is seeking a Senior / Principal Sediment Remediation Engineer or Scientist to join their Sediment Remediation and Waterfront Redevelopment practice. This role is based in their Pacific Northwest Branch with offices in Portland, OR, and Boise, ID, or other Geosyntec Branches. The position involves managing people and projects, ensuring technical excellence, and providing expertise on sediment remediation. It is ideal for a talented and highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects, including the financial and technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred) or geology.
At least 8 years (10+ years preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience in the Pacific Northwest marketplace; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Detailed understanding of CERCLA and other applicable state regulations.
Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams.
Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients, and leadership skills.
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree in engineering or geology.
Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G.).
Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers.

Responsibilities

Managing challenging technical projects while leveraging existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management.
Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
Evaluate contaminated sites and develop remediation approaches, including feasibility studies, removal action work plans, remediation design plans.
Lead the development of work plans, data evaluation, and cost-benefit analyses.
Implement remedial pilot tests and systems, including vendor selection, logistical coordination, permitting, and supervision of field teams.
Write technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; oversee and review documents prepared by project teams.
Build a portfolio of clients by winning new clients and obtaining repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal preparation, and executing a personal business development plan.
Foster trust-based relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders.
Mentor, guide, and motivate early career staff assigned in the areas of project performance, cost, schedule management, client expectations and career development; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
Fieldwork including site visits, multi-media environmental sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.
Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
