Job Purpose The SDV Strategist is responsible for defining, shaping, and advancing the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) value strategy for Honda in the North American market, with a strong customercentric focus on delivering differentiated digital experiences aligned to Honda’s business strategy and user needs. This role proposes inputs to the SDV value “north star” by translating customer insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence into a clear, prioritized, and executable digital product roadmap, aligned with Honda’s global technology direction, architecture readiness, and North American market expectations. The SDV Strategist influences the direction for how to compete in the future SDV landscape, which includes the full ecosystem of digital products and enabling electrical architecture, AD/ADAS technologies, and infotainment hardware. The SDV Strategist also owns the continuous ideation portfolio for future SDV product concepts, providing strategic judgment on concept prioritization, roadmap alignment, and investment timing. This includes identifying capability and technology gaps and directing investigation to Research flow when nearterm solutions do not exist.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s level degree or diploma in the field of Engineering / Technology (preferably in a STEM field of study).
At least 10 years of product development and/or strategy implementation experience
Prior experience with vehicle software-developed features
Demonstrated leadership of implementing a strategic vision to execution
Skilled at cross-functional leadership, building consensus, and collaborating strategic outcomes
Working knowledge of SDV, digital product, AD/ADAS, E&E architecture, and infotainment technologies.
Ability to visualize and forecast future strategy needs and prioritize conflicting requirements
Communication and report delivery to Executives and Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

Define and maintain NA SDV value proposition for near and long-term SDV competitiveness
Translate Future Competitiveness insights into SDV strategy assessments and recommendations.
Support SDV Strategy Report leader by interpreting corporate business and product strategy to SDV
Define critical information for how to compete in the future and feed to SDV Strategy Report any changing market needs.
Define NA SDV roadmap proposal for overall ecosystem of architecture/hardware enablement aligned digital product proposal, with support from SDV Strategy Chief Engineer
Prioritize SDV value features based on customer impact, electrical architecture readiness, and business value.
Ensure roadmap alignment with Honda global strategies while optimizing NA market expectations
Own the SDV Ideation Portfolio, defining the process for filtering, classifying, and maintaining the ideation backlog
Correlate the prioritization process with Global and Regional Honda stakeholders
Define evaluation criteria, prioritization framework, and success metrics for ideation outcomes
Serve as a strategic advisor on business value themes (such as XDR)
Propose POC (proof of concept) selection for internal demonstrations (such as Tech Day)
Identify cross-functional technology, capability, and know-how gaps required to achieve the SDV roadmap (which may include electrical E&E architecture, AD/ADAS technologies, infotainment hardware, etc.)
Direct these concepts into appropriate flow of the Research Portfolio, ensuring traceability from roadmap proposal to research completion
Influence cross-functional alignment across architecture, software, and feature development organizations to clarify future capability needs
Mentoring Research Chief in Research Portfolio execution and management
Lead the transition of approved SDV strategy and roadmap concepts to the Digital Product LPL for development and market execution
Ensure appropriate business approval, customer value validation, and strategic intent are confirmed prior to move to development backlog
Partner with Digital Product LPL to prioritize development roadmaps and application plans while maintaining strategic alignment
