About The Position

The Senior Principal Research Optometrist will design and lead clinical studies that directly support the development and launch of innovative contact lens, lens care, and eye care products. In this role, the Senior Principal Research Optometrist applies your clinical and research expertise to study design, data analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration, helping bring new products to market while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and Good Clinical Practice compliance.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree required.
  • Active Optometry license in New York State or ability to become licensed.
  • 2+ years of clinical research experience required.
  • Clinical study design, clinical research and statistical analysis, excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years industry experience preferred.
  • Contact lens residency preferred, or post-graduate degree (MS/PhD) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct clinical studies in support of developmental of core research projects, process validations, cost improvement efforts, and marketing assistance/competitive analyses.
  • Conduct studies in accordance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines and ethical standards.
  • Keep subject safety at the highest priority.
  • Develop and write documents required for clinical studies, including protocols and reports.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of study data and interpret results.
  • Assist in preparing regulatory documents and IRB application materials.
  • Represent clinical on cross-functional R&D project teams; provide directional feedback.
  • Support global operations regarding technical inquiries.
  • Keep current on existing technologies, competitive products, new techniques, Bausch + Lomb Standard Operating Procedures and Good Clinical Practice.
