About The Position

Designs, analyzes, develops, modifies and evaluates electrical/electronic parts, components, sub-systems, algorithms, or integrated circuitry for electrical/electronic equipment and other hardware systems. Conducts feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs. Assists in power delivery architecture development and assessment. Evaluates reliability of materials, properties, designs, and techniques used in production. May direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. This role will be on-site in Sunnyvale, 3+ days a week. Contributions have substantial technical impact on a significant HPE product/project, or a strategic/architectural direction. Requirements

  • 12+ years related Power Design Engineering experience
  • BSEE degree minimum
  • Familiarity with multilayer PCB Layout tools and techniques, as well as power development CAD tools such as Cadence Sigrity PowerDC is required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to design for cost and innovate.
  • Has knowledge in designing and integrating electronic components, integrated circuitry, and algorithms into overall architecture.
  • Evaluating, proposing, and selecting forms of empirical analysis, modelling and testing methodologies to validate component, circuit, and hardware designs and thermal/emissions management to be used across the organization.
  • Possesses electronic/ electrical design skills, as well as circuit design, test, and verification skills.
  • Knows how to use CAD design tools and software packages for PCBA board design.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills; mastery in English and local language, with an excellent ability to communicate nuanced concepts and influence in written and oral communication with a broad vocabulary.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options/results at business unit and executive levels

Nice To Haves

  • MSEE being a plus
  • Experience with liquid-cooled power systems and high-voltage architectures, including ±400 VDC/ 800 VDC input systems, is highly desirable.
  • Solid experience with schematic capture and simulation tools (including SPICE) is essential
  • Working knowledge of communication interfaces such as I2C/PMBus as well as firmware design experience are highly desirable.
  • Technical leadership and industry influence - Active participation in industry councils, technical committees, standards organizations, or other technical bodies that develop, influence, or define power-related specifications and standards for networking, telecommunications, and data center products.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards, emerging power technologies, and power architecture requirements for networking and data center systems.
  • Experienced in overall architecture of electronic hardware for networking products and solutions.
  • Has a history of innovation with multiple patents in the field of electronics .

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and defines organization-wide architecture and methodologies for power hardware design, with development across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit, contributing to technology roadmaps.
  • Makes recommendations regarding emerging power technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap.
  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards.
  • Drives the integration of valuable recommendations, updates, and innovations into the overall architecture and leads the platform architecture process across the business.
  • Takes a leadership role providing guidance and mentoring to less-experienced team members, setting an example of electrical hardware design, as well as development innovation and excellence.
  • Lead assigned Board Mount Power projects and Front-End Power projects from architectural definition through design, validation, and manufacturing release.
  • Drive technology development, design standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Power Systems Development organization.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing and/or engineering organization.
