About The Position

This role is responsible for designing and implementing architecture within a specific domain, ensuring alignment with the overall enterprise architecture strategy. This role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to deliver innovative and efficient solutions.

Requirements

  • Exceptional knowledge of system architecture methodologies, scalability, and integration processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Operational Technology (OT) ecosystems, including compliance requirements (e.g., NERC CIP, Standards of Conduct), OT cybersecurity principles (e.g., Zero Trust, network segmentation), and the architecture of critical components such as SCADA, EMS/DMS platforms, telemetry and data acquisition, metering, field and edge devices, communication networks, and supporting OT infrastructure — along with how these elements integrate with enterprise IT systems, data platforms, and governance frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following areas: ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) EMS (Energy Management System) OMS (Outage Management System) SCADA Substation Protection, Automation and/or Control DERMS or distributed energy resources Real‑time grid operations tool Telecom Grid Model Management .
  • Develop and maintain architecture frameworks, standards, guidelines, and reference models for OT environments
  • Ensure the OT domain remains aligned with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, the OT Strategic Plan, and evolving grid modernization technologies.
  • Partner closely with OT Applications and OT Infrastructure and other OT, IT, and Cyber security departments to design integrated, secure, and scalable OT system architectures.
  • Advocate for strong architectural practices and mentor technical teams to build architectural capability within OT
  • Excellent customer service skills required along with the ability to manage multiple customer issues at the same time.

  • A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Completion of a Master's degree from an accredited institution, relevant to the assignment, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical guidance and expertise within the specific domain (e.g., operational technology, data, applications, technology, or business processes).
  • Develops and maintain domain-specific architecture frameworks, standards, and guidelines.
  • Collaborates with solution architects, enterprise architects, and other domain architects to ensure cohesive and integrated solutions.
  • Defines and implements architecture strategies that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Drives innovation through identifying and evaluating technologies and solutions that can enhance the domain's capabilities.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of cross-functional, multi-platform systems within the domain.
  • Ensures domain capabilities are aligned with the long-term needs of the business and enterprise architecture.
  • Leads efforts to develop and maintain the architectural assets for the domain.
  • Sets an architectural direction for the domain that is aligned with business, OT goals, and the overall enterprise architectural strategy.
  • Represents enterprise architecture by advocating and sharing knowledge.
  • Participates as a member of the architecture review board/alliance and OT governance (e.g., Operational Technology Architect Committee (OTAC)).
  • Handles other duties and projects as assigned.
