The Advanced Effector Guidance Systems (AEGS) Department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering provides Electrical Systems Engineering to develop Electronic Systems solutions for products across the Raytheon portfolio. Their core electrical engineering responsibilities include architecture, requirements, integration, and test, utilizing technologies such as RF/RADAR, Navigation/IMU/GPS, Data Link/Communication, Digital, and Power. They partner with Electrical Product Team departments for detailed design and with systems teams. The AEGS department is seeking a Senior Principal IFTS Product Owner (PO) who will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplined, geographically dispersed team in the design, test, and delivery of all sub-assemblies for the Integrated Flight Termination System (IFTS). This role encompasses multidisciplinary responsibilities including hardware, software, configurable logic, systems, and test equipment. The IFTS PO will frequently interact with internal and external stakeholders, technical subject matter experts, and key major suppliers. The position demands high execution expertise and the ability to lead a highly technical team to balance technical, schedule, and cost risks to meet program requirements. The PO reports directly to the Chief Product Owner (CPO) and will also be on staff to the Program Manager (PM) and Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE). Additionally, the PO will serve as the Control Account Manager (CAM) for all IFTS scope, generating and defending quarterly Estimates at Complete (EAC’s) to functional management and the program management office (PMO), and capturing all Statement of Work (SOW) scope to generate a plan for both labor and material for the period of performance.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Ten years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support
  • RF product and subassembly design, integration, and production support
  • Electro Optical product and subassembly design, integration, and production support
  • Deconvolving high level requirements into actionable design electronics and subsystem architectures
  • Experience in sub-systems, systems engineering, requirement development and/or requirement validation

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related engineering degree
  • Systems engineering thought process with analytical skills background
  • Highly self-motivated individual that can perform multidiscipline work
  • Background in designing and troubleshooting of one or more of these components: antennas, analog RF circuit cards, digital circuit cards, and configurable logic
  • Experience in project leadership, systems engineering and architecture and have a desire to grow to a higher level
  • Able to network / influence outside of the team with other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines and Manufacturing organizations
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment
  • Proven experience in balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success
  • Experience working with missiles or similar systems
  • Ability to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities
  • Knowledge of mixed signal electronics
  • Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle
  • Experience in developing proposals
  • Experience leading large, complex trade studies

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplined engineering team and manage suppliers through an aggressive delivery schedule
  • Responsible for Technical, Cost, and Schedule Execution
  • Manage team budget and schedule and work with product team to ensure cost goals and schedule milestones are met
  • Track cost and schedule performance using EVMS (earned value management system), be responsible for estimated-at-complete (EACs), and report business metrics to PMO and functional leadership
  • Ability to obtain PM Level 7 Certification
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers for procuring and demonstrating capabilities in lab or field environments
  • Assignments may include guiding a team through several phases of hardware systems lifecycle such as designs and analysis; developing and documenting subsystem requirements and test plans; presentations to peers, management, and government customers; and root-cause failure investigations
