About The Position

WSP is seeking a Principal Engineer to join its growing Structures Investigation Group (SIG). The team plans, organizes, carries out, and reports on inspections and investigations of a wide range of structures, helping clients understand structural condition, deterioration, and appropriate asset-management actions. The group also has expertise in managing post-tensioned structures for major clients in the UK and overseas. The role is part of WSP’s project delivery network and involves managing teams to meet client briefs. The engineer will identify and prioritize investigations; plan, organize, execute, and report on work; program resources and projects; and liaise with clients, stakeholders, and other technical disciplines to deliver innovative work within time and cost constraints. The position may provide cover for the team leader, review quality, contribute to technical excellence and innovation, and mentor and support junior staff. The role includes delivering studies and inspection and investigation reports for engineered structures at locations across the UK. It also involves preparing proposals and work scopes, overseeing site activities and laboratory-testing schedules, approving method statements and risk assessments, checking reports and CAD drawings, and carrying out project governance and management tasks. Opportunities may include supporting large-scale projects in the UK or overseas. WSP offers hybrid working, with the option to work from home two days a week, and supports employees’ professional development.
