About The Position

Join 3Vi, a growing engineering practice delivering complex rail, transit, and infrastructure projects across California and the U.S. As a Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer, you'll play a critical role in shaping technically challenging electrical designs that directly impact project delivery, safety, and innovation. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to major rail and facilities projects while leading and mentoring the next generation of engineering talent. Work on large-scale, technically challenging rail, transit, and facilities projects. Lead electrical design tasks and sign and seal drawings as a licensed PE. Mentor EITs and designers, helping to develop team capability and standards. Access career development, training, and tuition reimbursement support. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of professional electrical design experience
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and California Electrical Code
  • Experience in HV/LV distribution, lighting, fire detection, and grounding/bonding systems
  • Proven ability to lead local and remote teams effectively
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Valid U.S. driver's licence

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) – Electrical in California
  • Rail, transit, or facilities design experience
  • Experience managing CAD/Revit workflows

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and electrical/power system designs
  • Develop compliant designs for rail facilities, traction power substations, and safety-critical facilities, including HV/LV distribution, lighting, fire detection, and grounding/bonding
  • Interpret and apply NEC, NFPA, and California Electrical Code requirements
  • Lead electrical design tasks; sign and seal drawings as required
  • Supervise and mentor EITs and designers, delegating tasks effectively
  • Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to meet deadlines
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, and client presentations
  • Write technical reports and specifications
  • Calculate cable/conduit sizing, schedules, and routing methodologies
  • Manage CAD/Revit workflows, provide redlines/markups, and coordinate with remote teams
  • Review shop drawings and product data sheets
  • Support bids, proposals, and additional projects as required
  • Travel domestically as needed for client meetings, conferences, or project site visits
