About The Position

The Senior Portfolio Monitoring Analyst performs a variety of advanced underwriting functions which generally include the monitoring and servicing of existing and new accounts by reviewing, validating, reconciling, and trending tested financial covenants and borrowing base certificates. Frequent analysis and presentation of covenant compliance and financial performance trends to Underwriters, Account Officers, and other company personal is required. Responsible for the monitoring of a designated portfolio and should possess an advanced understanding of financial statement analysis. Frequently will assist in spreading financial statements for Production Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Capital Markets accounts. Independent decision-making is required. This role would also maintain and manage a small portfolio of credits focusing on Production Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Capital Markets. Responsible for analyzing and evaluating loan applications, approving loans within delegated authorities, and recommending loans for approval to the loan committee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, majors in Accounting, Finance, Business, Agribusiness, or related fields required, or a minimum of six (6) years’ experience in a similar role in lieu of a degree.
  • General knowledge of agriculture and/or agribusiness is required.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with accounting principles, banking policies, procedures, and processes is required.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills to validate, evaluate, prioritize, and categorize data in various formats is required.
  • Self-starting approach to work, great attention to detail and pride in accurate work is required.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills is required to thrive in our fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting.
  • Employees will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and a computer for an extended period.
  • The ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in the performance of the job.
  • Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds is required.
  • Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for analyzing existing new accounts’ ongoing covenant compliance performance through review, validation, reconciliation, and trending of borrowing base certificates and tested financial covenants.
  • Spreads and analyzes financial statements to determine financial performance trends, including repayment capacity, liquidity, leverage, capitalization trends, and sources and uses of cash.
  • Reviews financial and covenant reporting data with efficient and accurate follow-up to all counterparties.
  • Analyzes all pertinent financial information and supporting reports and determines the need for additional information or a more thorough investigation.
  • Assists the underwriting team in preparing loan servicing actions and periodic financial reviews.
  • Occasionally prepares and presents credit information for account officers or committees to make lending decisions on new or renewal loans.
  • Reviews credit agreements and other loan documents to support covenant compliance and financial performance reviews.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and written, with deal teams regarding ongoing covenant compliance and financial performance trends of existing and new accounts.
  • Reviews and understands chattel evaluations and real estate appraisals.
  • Assists in collateral control activities including, but not limited to, inventory analysis and verification and accounts receivable maintenance and verification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
