About The Position

Bank of Marin is seeking a Senior Portfolio Manager to join their Commercial Banking Office in Napa Redwood. This position is primarily responsible for managing the loan application process, including credit analysis, underwriting, documentation, and loan closing for assigned prospects and clients. The Senior Portfolio Manager ensures the assigned loan portfolio is properly risk-graded, compliant with loan agreements, and identifies and addresses potential risks. They provide quality service to clients, gather information for new loan requests, coordinate with Credit Analysts, work with Credit Administration for loan documentation, and close loans with borrowers. The role requires an excellent understanding of most loan types and related requirements, and the ability to work independently. The Senior Portfolio Manager monitors the current loan portfolio for risks and maintains up-to-date loan files. They possess excellent knowledge of deposit and Treasury Services products, and other services offered to commercial clients. This role generally reviews and/or makes larger, more complex loans and may provide guidance to other Portfolio Manager positions. The Senior Portfolio Manager works with little supervision while supporting the Commercial Banking Office.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting, financial accounting, and credit analysis.
  • Ability to work with detailed information in an efficient and accurate manner, while meeting established deadlines.
  • Proficient typing and computer skills, particularly in using Microsoft Office Tools, and the Bank’s current software system.
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Motivated individual with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work well with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues making sound judgments.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and evaluate detailed and complex loan documents.
  • Thorough understanding and familiarity of the bank’s loan policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory and legal issues encountered in the completion and closing of complex personal and commercial loans.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the loan application process, including credit analysis, underwriting, documentation, and loan closing for assigned prospects and clients.
  • Ensure assigned loan portfolio is properly risk-graded and in compliance with loan agreements/approvals.
  • Identify and address potential risks within the loan portfolio.
  • Provide quality service to clients by independently directing and assisting with needs and inquiries.
  • Partner with Regional Managers where practical.
  • Gather information for new loan requests.
  • Coordinate with Credit Analysts on loan package preparation and proposals.
  • Work with Credit Administration to properly document loans.
  • Close loans with borrowers when needed.
  • Monitor current loan portfolio to identify risks and maintain up-to-date loan files.
  • Provide guidance to Portfolio Manager I, II and III positions.
  • Support the Commercial Banking Office with little supervision.
