About The Position

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, the Senior Portfolio Accountant will join our portfolio accounting team at QuadReal Property Group. The portfolio accounting team’s current focus is on developing operational efficiency in order to provide leadership to others within the organization while maintaining accurate and timely reporting to all internal and external stakeholders. The Fund’s near to medium term focus is on maximizing returns for public sector pension holders through value creation on real estate development projects along with strategic leverage optimization. We are looking for a candidate with a strong financial acumen, a demonstrated attention to detail, who is a confident individual that possesses a positive attitude, excellent time management and organization skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in order to adhere to deadlines in a dynamically changing environment. Requirements

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar role or public accounting role
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and full cycle accounting experience
  • Attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong proficiency with Excel functions and working with large volumes of data
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills in a fast paced in environment
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Yardi is an asset
  • Prior experience in the real estate industry is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the fund level operational full cycle accounting records
  • Analysis of the quarterly financial results
  • Preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements with note disclosures for audit committee
  • Manage monthly financial reporting for assigned entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare journal entries for significant transactions such as property real estate transactions and financing
  • Document and improve processes and assist with preparing technical accounting memos
  • Review and preparation of annual statutory CBCA Financial Statements
  • Preparation of quarterly compilation financial statements for FP&A and the lenders
  • Analysis of the quarterly KPI reporting to management
  • Preparation of debt covenant compliance workbooks for delivery to our treasury team in their initiatives to obtain debt and credit ratings
  • Provide support to our FP&A team in their efforts to consolidate and manage all business lines of the company
  • Provide support to our tax team in their preparation of annual corporate tax returns
  • Preparation and review of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Support the investment management team in reporting their quarterly results
  • Initiate and support the development of processes and system improvements
  • Assist with the year-end audit including preparation of annual consolidated financial statements, audit support working papers and related analysis
  • Training and mentoring of junior team members
  • Assist with special projects, as required

Benefits

  • The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $86,000 to $96,000. The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
