About The Position

Join the coolest (literally) lifeguard team in Hampton. We are looking for a senior pool lifeguard to help keep our community pools safe this summer- while leading by example, supervising staff, and assisting with the planning and coordination of lifeguard operations. The purpose of the class is to perform pool lifeguard duties in the interest of public safety at pool facilities and elsewhere, monitor pool activities, and may assist in the planning and coordination of the lifeguard unit. The class works according to set procedures. May supervise others. Requirements

  • High school graduation or successful completion of GED.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a lifeguard on a public beach or in a public pool facility to include some experience supervising the work of others.
  • Must possess a current Lifeguard Certification from a nationally recognized organization, i.e. American Red Cross, Ellis & Associates, YMCA of USA, or equivalent.
  • Must successfully complete physical testing to include a demonstration of skills and abilities.
  • Requires successful completion of Preventing Disease Transmission and Oxygen Administration training within 30 days of employment.
  • Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion (18 and older).
  • Effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Good hearing and eye sight required.

Nice To Haves

  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification
