KFF is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst or Senior Data Analyst to join the KFF Project on Hospital Costs. This role will guide research projects from ideation to publication, providing primarily descriptive data analysis. The ideal candidate will have experience in health policy and analytics, with a desire to produce timely, high-quality, informative work. Specific areas of interest include hospital spending growth, the impact of policy changes on hospital finances, the financial status of rural and safety-net hospitals, healthcare market competitiveness, and hospital charity care. The position involves contributing data and information to policymakers, media, and the public, writing fact-based analyses for non-scientific audiences, and distilling complex findings through clear narratives and data visualizations. The role also includes responding to external inquiries, conducting descriptive data analyses, identifying and understanding data sources, and developing analytic plans. Additionally, the senior analyst will run, debug, and document code, lead projects collaboratively and independently, manage projects efficiently, and maintain active knowledge of the health policy and market landscape related to hospitals and health systems. This includes tracking policy discussions and proactively identifying new research opportunities.
