About The Position

The Newport Beach Police Department is seeking a Senior Police Community Service Officer. This position is assigned to the Records division and is responsible for establishing and maintaining records, providing training and instruction to new personnel, participating in the implementation of goals and objectives, evaluating employee performance, and responding to subpoenas, public records requests, and court-ordered sealings. The role requires regular and predictable attendance and performance of related duties as assigned.

Requirements

One year of full time experience as a Community Services Officer
High school graduate, or G.E.D. equivalency
Valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record
Must successfully complete a thorough background review, including being fingerprinted
Record must be free from conviction of any felony, or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, and from an excessive number of citations for traffic violations
Background history should indicate responsibility, dependability, honesty, integrity, acceptable communication skills, good judgment and the ability to relate well with others

College course work with an emphasis on management is highly desirable

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain records
Provide training and instruction of newly hired or assigned personnel
Participate in the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities of assigned civilian section
Evaluate and work with employees to correct deficiencies
Provide information and assistance to other Police Sections, other City departments and outside agencies
Implement policies and procedures
Responsibility for responding to subpoenas, public records requests, and court ordered sealings
Regularly and predictably attend work
Perform related duties as assigned
