Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Senior Platform/Stores Integration Engineer to support the Lead Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering (APMSE) for the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft (MPRA) Program Office (PMA-290) Platform/Stores Integration (PSI) Team at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. Primary responsibility is supporting the technical effort of all P-3 and P-8 weapon integration activities to include requirements development, design, analysis, test and evaluation and fleet introduction of new capability. Primary projects include Advanced Survivability Pod (ASP), Advanced Fire Control, torpedo integration, and new store capability (Compact Rapid Attack Weapon (CRAW). This CSS position is a technical systems engineering position that understands, manages and communicates the program’s technical requirements and technical trade space to provide complementary support and allow both technical development and technical sustainment to thrive within the program’s funding, cost and schedule constraints. As such, the position may require high levels of exposure with both PMA-290 and NAWCAD leadership. Work location is on-Site at Patuxent River, MD. This position will require travel approximately 40 days per year. The selected candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to: Identifying potential problems, coordinating specific engineering competency solutions, conducting meetings and conferences, reviewing and commenting on flight clearance requests, preparation of technical directives and associated data, engineering change proposals, and preliminary specification change notices, and performing other duties as assigned. Provides technical solutions and technical support to program leadership. On a regular basis, the engineer coordinates, informs, and communicates efforts with various engineering competencies, Domestic and FMS IPTs within PMA290, weapons system software development team (Boeing), the weapons PMAs (PMA-201, PMA-264, PMS-404) as well as coordinating with external agencies including contractors, subcontractors, FMS customers (JPO), OPNAV and other navy field activities and fleet users. Formulates engineering design concepts and performance requirements which provide the basis for overall technical and engineering planning for the assigned weapon/store integration efforts. Mastery of platform/stores integration principles and practices to include airworthiness certification, software/avionic integration and mission effectiveness. Ability to plan and manage large programs and to coordinate and review complex technical work. Knowledge of principles, policies and regulations of the PPBS, the material acquisition process, contracting and procurement. Develops and manages a comprehensive program for substantial modifications or updates of assigned less than major systems which require development efforts equivalent to the engineering & manufacturing development phase or develops and manages a comprehensive program to develop defined portions of major systems. Ensure that state-of-the-art-art-style engineering practices are being employed by team members in the execution of the program. Where necessary, conduct training and be the leader for infusion of system engineering process improvements. Supports periodic system design reviews with representatives from all NAVAIR operating groups, and as required, contractor personnel, representatives from the CNO, the Fleet and Support Activities to ascertain the technical and financial status of assigned systems. Interface with PEO(A/U&W) Portfolio Manager(s) to provide the data and PMA inputs necessary for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), STTR, Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF), and other S&T initiatives and programs as may be directed.
