About The Position

The OCI Robotics Cloud team is developing a platform that enables customers to securely connect robots to the cloud and manage them through consistent services for identity, missions, fleet operations, telemetry, digital twins, and software lifecycle management. We’re also building an AI-assisted robot onboarding platform designed to make integrating a new robot dramatically easier. Instead of writing every integration from scratch, engineers will use standardized specifications, APIs, SDKs, and reusable edge adapters to connect robots from different vendors to OCI. As a Senior Platform Software Engineer, you’ll build the cloud and edge software that makes this possible. You’ll own meaningful features end-to-end, work on real distributed-systems problems, and gain hands-on experience at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, robotics, and AI.

Requirements

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of professional software development experience.
Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Go, Java, Python, or C++.
Experience building backend services, APIs, or distributed applications.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or similar cloud-native technologies.
Solid understanding of software design, testing, debugging, and production engineering.
Ability to independently own and deliver well-scoped technical projects.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with ROS 2 or robotics software development.
Familiarity with DDS, MQTT, OPC-UA, VDA5050, or related protocols.
Experience integrating devices, robots, autonomous systems, or edge software with cloud services.
Familiarity with Kubernetes-based platforms and cloud-to-edge architectures.
Understanding of robot navigation, localization, perception, mission execution, or fleet management.
Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, Webots, or similar simulation tools.
Exposure to LLMs, AI agents, vision-language models, code generation, or AI-assisted developer tools.
Interest in developer platforms, SDKs, APIs, and extensible integration frameworks.

Responsibilities

Design and implement production cloud services for robot registration, identity, fleet operations, mission execution, telemetry, digital twins, and software lifecycle management.
Build scalable REST APIs and backend services using modern cloud-native architectures.
Develop SDKs, service contracts, and edge components used to connect robots to OCI.
Implement reusable robot adapters and integration frameworks for different robot vendors and protocols.
Build components of AI-assisted onboarding workflows that generate specifications, integration code, and developer guidance.
Integrate cloud services with robots, simulators, autonomous systems, and edge environments.
Improve service reliability, observability, performance, security, and operational tooling.
Debug issues across cloud services, networks, edge software, and robot integrations.
Write high-quality, maintainable, tested production code and participate actively in code and design reviews.
Collaborate with experienced engineers across robotics, AI, security, and OCI infrastructure teams.

Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
