About The Position

Capital Power is seeking a Senior Plant Engineer for a permanent, full-time position at their Arlington Valley plant. This role involves applying technical expertise to support plant operations, optimize performance, and ensure longevity. The position offers opportunities to work on innovative and complex projects in a collaborative and inventive environment. The Senior Plant Engineer will report to the Plant Manager and partner with multifunctional teams.

Requirements

  • Completed Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Process or other closely related engineering fields.
  • Minimum 8-years of experience practicing engineering, including a minimum of 3 years of dedicated engineering experience in an operating plant setting.
  • Advanced understanding of Pressure piping and vessel design, maintenance and compliance to codes and standards and/or Rotating equipment and related engineering/technical knowledge (vibration, lube, thermography).
  • Thorough understanding of maintenance processes, methods, and techniques as they apply in an industrial setting, with a focus on power plants systems.
  • Strong communication skills (written, spoken).
  • Legally eligible to work in United States of America.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring Plant performance and heat balance for continual output and efficiency improvements.
  • Reviewing, understanding, applying, and developing internal engineering guidelines, procedures, and standards at the site level in coordination with corporate Engineering teams as required.
  • Contributing to project planning and execution through all phases including front end input as well as post implementation support.
  • Working collaboratively with corporate Engineering team members and building strong relationships with other work groups to integrate sound Asset Engineering practices into both the day-to-day and long-term efforts of Capital Power.
  • Acting as site NERC Compliance Officer, to include reporting and interfacing with the Capital Power Compliance Team as well as external stakeholders.
  • Owning the Management of Change program at the site level.
  • Providing O&M feedback to the engineering group to advance the creation of effective solutions to facility issues.
  • Evaluating the economic benefits of proposed technical solutions and providing recommendations of alternate solutions.
  • Recommending and implementing safe and effective engineering solutions relating to plant emissions, control systems, equipment failure, equipment optimization, etc.
  • Improving technical and management skillset through formal and informal training opportunities.
