About The Position

Chord is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to manage the corporate forecast models within the Corporate Planning Group. This high-profile individual contributor role shapes how Chord plans and where capital is allocated, with real latitude to improve the process itself as the organization grows. Located in Houston, TX, with a hybrid schedule for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
• 5-8 years industry experience
• 3+ years in a Reservoir, Development, or Planning role
• Ability to manage projects with a large group of multi-disciplined contributors
• Ability to perform detailed analysis and change tracking across large datasets
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate through various mediums

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Aries, DSO, Enersight, and Spotfire
• Experience with Python, Snowflake/SQL, or applying AI tools to analytical workflows
• Curiosity and a willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Coordinate updates to the short-term outlook model (monthly) and long-term net asset value model (quarterly) and communicate key metrics and changes effectively to upper management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization: staying in tune with the pulse of the business, serving as a trusted economic and strategic advisor, and providing accountability to the plan.
• Contribute to the ongoing modernization and optimization of the planning process: redesigning workflows, eliminating manual steps, and building tools that make each forecast cycle sharper.
• Apply Python, Snowflake SQL, and AI tools such as Claude to automate analysis, interrogate large datasets, and turn ambiguous questions into defensible answers.
• Take on complex, open-ended business problems where the answer is not in a template, and influence decisions that carry real financial impact.
