About The Position

This is a Houston-based office assignment for a Piping Designer or Senior Piping Designer to support modularized piping design projects while maintaining full compliance with all BMcD and client safety requirements. Approximately 95% of the work is performed in the office, with limited travel to local or U.S. job sites. In this role, the designer will plan and prepare project documents, evaluate design problems, develop layout solutions, and support the successful execution of modularized piping design work. The successful candidate will use independent judgment to develop, recommend, and prepare preliminary and final piping design layouts. Responsibilities include producing complete piping deliverables from verbal or written direction provided by a project manager or project piping lead, while applying applicable standards, procedures, guidelines, design principles, and industry best practices. The designer will coordinate design and detailing activities across assigned projects, collaborate with other disciplines, Burns & McDonnell India (BMI), clients, service suppliers, vendors, and outside personnel, and help identify constructability considerations throughout the design phase.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of recent experience using SmartPlant SP3D (3D software) to model equipment and piping systems
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Recent experience using LFM Server software to view laser scan data
  • Ability to produce 2D drawings in AutoCAD format (highly preferred)
  • A current TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
  • Prior consulting engineering experience
  • Experience collaborating with global high-value engineering offices
