Senior Physiotherapist – Paediatrics
About The Position
Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Senior Physiotherapist – Paediatrics to join their team in a permanent, part-time (0.8 FTE) role. This position is based at the Springfield campus and is part of the Mater Hospital Springfield, a new state-of-the-art facility opening in early 2026. The hospital will serve the growing Greater Springfield region with a mix of public and private beds across various services. The Physiotherapy department at Mater Hospital Springfield provides a broad range of public and private acute health services for adults, women's health, neonatology, and children and adolescent services. The team specifically provides specialist services to inpatients and outpatients across neonatal and paediatric care, including a Neonatal Critical Care Unit with 16 cots, a Paediatric inpatient unit with 19 beds, and an upcoming Paediatric Outpatient service.
Requirements
- Demonstrated competence in the management of pre-term, infant, and general paediatric disorders.
- Demonstrated high-level clinical practice and independent clinical judgment in paediatric and neonatal physiotherapy.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of outcome measures and assessment tools for preterm neonatal, infant, and general paediatric populations in cardiorespiratory, neuro-developmental, musculoskeletal, and orthopaedic physiotherapy.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, contribute to decision-making, and address conflict.
- Evidence of clinical leadership, mentorship, and supervision within a paediatric and neonatal physiotherapy team.
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy (or equivalent) from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Current AHPRA registration.
- Eligibility to receive a Medicare provider number.

Responsibilities
- Lead family-centred, evidence-based, neonatal, infant and general paediatric clinical care in emergency, inpatient (NCCU, postnatal and paediatric wards), and outpatient settings.
- Care for infants and children with cardiorespiratory, developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal, and orthopaedic concerns throughout the continuum of care.
- Deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based clinical services within paediatric services.
- Clinically supervise and train HP3 Physiotherapists in neonatal and paediatric care.
- Initiate, develop, and evaluate quality and service improvement activities.
- Contribute to decision-making and address conflict with multidisciplinary teams, patients, carers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in weekend and on-call rosters as required.
