This is an onsite position in our Marshfield location. The role oversees the use of radiation in diagnostic imaging and/or radiation oncology for the Sanford system to ensure safety and compliance with professional accreditations as well as state and federal requirements. The physicist utilizes knowledge of physics and technology as a resource when consulting with physicians and other physicists. They possess a high level of understanding of radiological fields and provide training to staff. The role functions as a resource for other physicists in the use of radiation in medicine. Responsibilities include implementing advanced imaging and/or treatment technologies and clinical services, researching new treatment techniques and modalities to support strategic planning, and solving complex clinical problems. The physicist will design or use computer simulations to model physical data for better understanding and application to clinical problems. Additionally, they will direct testing and monitoring of radioactive material and radiation producing machines, and conduct application evaluations for new software and hardware products prior to routine use.
