About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a Senior Physicist in Radiation Oncology. This role provides independent consultation services to physicians, other physicists, and staff regarding the medical use of radiation. The department has four radiation oncologists and four dosimetrists. This position will be involved in all aspects of modern image-guided external beam photon therapy and HDR brachytherapy. Support is also provided to a satellite Sanford Health clinic in Worthington, MN.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in physics, biophysics, medical physics or radiological physics.
• Three years’ experience working in diagnostic radiology/nuclear medicine department responsible for equipment testing and quality control/quality assurance required.
• Board certified required.
• For a physicist in radiation oncology, acceptable certifications are: the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Physics, Therapeutic Medical Physics, or Therapeutic Radiologic Physics, American Board of Medical Physics, Canadian College of Physicist in Medicine or related certification board.
• Must obtain certification within 5 years of date of hire.

Nice To Haves

• HDR experience and AMP status on a RAM license is preferred.
• Prior Aria/Eclipse experience is preferred.
• Consideration will be given to new grads and non-certified physicists who are board eligible.

Responsibilities

• Share duties with two Physicists and the Director of Radiation Oncology.
• Involvement in all aspects of modern image-guided external beam photon therapy and HDR brachytherapy.
• Provide independent consultation services to physicians, other physicists and staff regarding the medical use of radiation.
• Support a satellite Sanford Health clinic in Worthington, MN.
