About The Position

Executes methods and procedures for new tasks and the daily operations of Rehabilitation Services, including monitoring and administering patient evaluations and quality of care in accordance with a written and signed prescription and/or referral from a physician or other State-authorized practitioner. Conducts medically prescribed physical therapy programs and assists in evaluating and treating disabilities, injuries, and diseases using physical, chemical, and mechanical means.

Requirements

Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Current New York State license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
3–5 years of relevant experience.
Specialized certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

Administers direct patient care in accordance with the written and signed prescription of the referring physician or other State-authorized practitioner.
Orients therapists to designated rotations and provides instruction regarding treatment protocols and equipment use.
Submits required documentation in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Guides clinical Rehabilitation staff.
Periodically inspects equipment, identifies malfunctions, and initiates repairs by contacting appropriate service departments.
Assists with program development and quality improvement.
Participates in quality-improvement chart reviews and activities.
Serves as a liaison between the department and team members.
Attends family meetings and conferences pertaining to the welfare and management of an assigned patient.
Performs related duties as required.
