About The Position

The Senior Photo & Video Producer will own Deseret Book's in-house photography and video function, elevating the craft and impact of our photo, video, podcast, and motion content across every channel. Reporting to the Creative Director, this producer will build scalable processes that turn content direction from our marketing teams into compelling, narrative-driven stories and imagery that advance our mission and brands. This role owns end-to-end production across both photography and video—from concept through final delivery—for product and lifestyle photography, campaign imagery, long-form YouTube series, video-enabled podcasts, out-of-home and venue deliverables, retail video walls, digital and paid-media assets, short-form social content, and web video. The Senior Photo & Video Producer will also coordinate and execute photography for campaign, event, and day-to-day needs and will act as a key collaborator and creative liaison with external agencies and production partners on larger-scale, higher-production projects (e.g., TV commercials, major photo campaigns), ensuring creative alignment, technical excellence, and efficient handoffs.

Requirements

6+ years of professional production experience with a strong portfolio spanning video (long-form, short-form, branded content) and photography (product, lifestyle, campaign); demonstrated ability to independently own and execute projects from concept through delivery.
Expert end-to-end video production skills: Pre-production: creative development, scripting/storyboarding, shot planning, scheduling, budgeting, crewing, casting, and location management. Production: directing, multi-cam operation, camera systems/lenses, gimbals/sliders, lighting (studio and on-location), and professional audio capture (shotgun/lavs, mixers/recorders). Post-production: non-linear editing, motion graphics, color correction/grading, audio sweetening/mixing, sound design, and delivery/versioning across platforms.
Expert photography skills: Ability to plan, execute, and direct photo shoots: casting, crewing, shot lists, on-set direction, lighting, and vendor management. Proficiency shooting product, lifestyle, and day-to-day photography, including studio product photography on white backgrounds with proper shadow control. Command of photo post-production workflows: culling, retouching, color correction, file formats, and delivery specs for print, web, and social.
Paid-media creative fluency: Understanding of creative requirements and best practices for major paid channels (Meta, YouTube, TikTok, programmatic display, connected TV). Ability to produce and version assets to platform specs and collaborate with media buyers on performance-driven creative needs.
Technical proficiency: Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator); DaVinci Resolve (color) or equivalent; disciplined media management, proxies, and archival workflows. Deliverables for social, web, retail video walls, and venue systems; deep knowledge of aspect ratios, codecs, bitrates, color spaces, and display requirements for large-format LED.
Familiarity with podcast production workflows: multi-cam video capture, studio audio signal chain, remote guest recording, audio post-production, and distribution across podcast and video platforms.
Familiarity and comfort with AI-assisted creative workflows: understanding of how generative-AI tools (image generation, background replacement, copy assistance) can be applied responsibly within brand guidelines, editorial standards, and intellectual-property guardrails. Not expected to be an AI engineer, but should be curious, experimental, and able to evaluate where AI accelerates quality work versus where human craft is non-negotiable
Strong storytelling sensibility with the ability to turn strategic briefs and subject-matter expertise into accessible, narrative-driven content aligned to our brand and mission.
Effective collaborator; able to give and receive constructive feedback and partner across creative, marketing, and media teams.
Project management excellence: prioritization, timeline/budget ownership, vendor management, talent/crew coordination, and clear communication with non-technical partners.
Familiarity with review/approval and asset management tools (e.g., Frame.io, Asana, DAM/MAM systems); disciplined file hygiene and version control.
Working knowledge of rights management, talent/model releases, and music/image licensing for commercial use.
Detail-oriented, resourceful, and calm under deadline pressure; capable of managing multiple concurrent productions across video and photo.
Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with Adobe design tools is a plus when collaborating across creative disciplines.
Physical requirements: ability to lift and transport production and photo equipment as needed and occasional travel for on-location shoots and venue deliverables.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end video production across formats: concept/storyboarding, scripting in partnership with content teams, directing, filming, lighting, audio capture, editing, motion graphics, color correction/grading, audio sweetening/mixing, versioning, and final delivery to spec.
Produce long-form YouTube series, venue/OOH deliverables (Jumbotrons, LED halos/ribbon boards), retail video walls, short-form social content, and web video; define templates and show packages to scale quality.
Create and optimize video assets for digital paid-media campaigns—including social-platform ads, YouTube pre-roll, connected TV, and programmatic placements—ensuring each deliverable meets platform specs and performance-creative best practices.
Support podcast production as needed and as the process evolves—including multi-cam video capture, studio audio, post-production, and delivery across audio and video platforms.
Ensure brand alignment, technical accuracy (aspect ratios, resolutions, codecs, frame rates, color spaces), and rigorous QA.
Own all photography production across the organization: product, lifestyle, campaign, author/talent, event, and editorial.
Plan and execute photo shoots end-to-end: creative briefs, shot lists, location scouting, casting models/actors, hiring and directing photographers and crew, on-set direction, and post-shoot culling, retouching, and file delivery.
Shoot photography directly—particularly product, lifestyle, behind-the-scenes, social, and quick-turn needs—and serve as the primary photographer for day-to-day production.
Produce still assets for paid-media campaigns and digital advertising, collaborating with media and performance-marketing stakeholders to align creative with campaign objectives, audience targeting, and platform requirements.
Maintain a vetted roster of external photographers, stylists, hair/makeup artists, and other crew; manage vendor relationships, contracts, and budgets.
Ensure all photo assets meet brand standards, technical specs, and usage/rights requirements; coordinate organized delivery and metadata tagging for the digital asset library
Own equipment strategy and studio readiness for both video and photo: inventory, maintenance, procurement/rentals, safety, and on-set best practices.
Recruit and oversee freelancers and vendors for video and photo projects as needed.
Implement efficient workflows and tools (production calendars, shot lists, checklists, review/approval, asset naming/versioning).
Establish and track KPIs (content velocity, on-time delivery, stakeholder satisfaction, cost-per-asset, engagement/performance metrics across organic and paid channels); drive continuous improvement.
Maintain rights management and compliance: talent releases, model releases, usage permissions, and music/image licensing.
Translate marketing briefs into clear A/V and photo concepts, storyboards, shot lists, and production plans; collaborate closely with the Creative Director, Art Director — Physical Experience, Art Director — Digital Experience, Lead Copywriter, and Lead Graphic Designer for integrated, consistent storytelling.
Partner with media, eCommerce, and performance-marketing teams to understand paid-media objectives, audience segments, and platform specs so that photo and video assets are built to perform from the start.
Serve as the in-house production expert and creative liaison with external agencies and production partners on high-production initiatives (e.g., commercials, major photo campaigns) as well as current podcast production partners, aligning on feasibility, specs, casting, file exchanges, and feedback cycles.
Coordinate with venues, retail operations, social, eCommerce, and other stakeholders to validate technical requirements and delivery timelines for channel-specific video and photo needs.
