About The Position

What Retail Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers. Retail Pharmacy is responsible for ensuring the correct and safe dispensing of prescription medications to the general public, in accordance with legal, ethical and professional guidelines; may also consult with and advise patients and physicians regarding prescribed and over-the-counter medications.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience, preferred
  • Must be a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician through PTCB/NHA or other accrediting body
  • Applies knowledge and company policies to complete a variety of tasks
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibility
  • Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications
  • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgment in resolving issues
  • May assist in recommendation of processes on new assignments
  • Adheres to all quality guidelines
  • Works with limited supervision
  • May provide general guidance or technical assistance to less experienced team members

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized pharmacy tasks within designated system statuses.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison in high-touch patient and physician interactions, delivering white-glove service and resolving escalated issues.
  • Operate within specialized portals and systems to handle sensitive communications and complex prescription orders.
  • Execute work in high-priority queues requiring advanced system knowledge and multitasking across multiple responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership and cross-functional teams to support order resolution and enhance patient care delivery.
  • Receive advanced training to handle specific order types, system locations, and communication protocols.
  • Act as a high-performing individual contributor, consistently demonstrating reliability, accuracy, and initiative in specialized workflows.
