About The Position

The WTCC Environmental Management team supports the planning, development, implementation and oversite of the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) procedures and/or work packages that are used to comply with environmental permit requirements including air, wastewater, and dangerous waste. Environmental management support will be required to ensure Plant Operations has technical staff on site to interpret and resolve permit conditions to ensure compliance and to maintain operations in a compliant manner. The Senior Permitting lead will interfaces with BNI WTP, Department of Energy (DOE), and regulatory agencies to complete permit modifications and regulatory submittals, review engineering changes for applicability to project environmental permits, licenses, and regulatory requirements; interfaces with internal organizations to ensure changes are managed in accordance with environmental requirements. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Applied Science or demonstrated equivalent
  • 10 years with Bachelor’s Degree or 7 years with Master’s Degree
  • Superior knowledge of air, water, and hazardous waste environmental regulations and permit compliance and monitoring techniques and methodologies
  • Experience in operating plants that require compliance with environmental permits and regulations
  • Experience in working with operations management to resolve environmental permit issues
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge/experience in working with government agencies, preferably with the US Department of Energy and the Washington State Department of Ecology
  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentum visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Washington State environmental regulations is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Prime Contractor in managing/maintaining environmental permit configuration current with design changes that result from commissioning activities
  • Provide air/water/waste permitting support to engineering for design changes, issue resolution, etc.
  • Interact with project organizations on environmental permit requirements related to the design and operation of facilities regulated by air/water/waste permits and regulations; assist in planning system modifications, as required
  • Provide air/water/waste permit implementation guidance/support to WTP organizations
  • Provide field support to answer regulatory agency permit questions related to air/water/waste system operations and maintenance
  • Notify commissioning personnel when a new permit is issued and provide implementation guidance
  • Resolve concerns, as assigned
  • Perform environmental permitting self-assessments as assigned
  • Facilitate/participate in regulatory agency, Department of Energy, and company inspections/audits
  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment
