Senior Performance Marketing Manager

NewsBreakMountain View, CA
$100,000 - $250,000

About The Position

NewsBreak is seeking a Senior Performance Marketing Manager to join their team. This role is crucial for optimizing paid growth strategies and ensuring the efficient allocation of an eight-figure annual budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in app user acquisition, particularly with large budgets, and possess strong skills in experiment design, analytical judgment, and platform automation. The current team has a Lead who is setting the direction, but their bandwidth is limited due to managing multiple initiatives. Day-to-day execution is handled by a colleague new to growth, who requires experienced oversight for incrementality judgment, bidding strategy, and experiment design. This role is designed to fill that gap, providing full-time operational leadership for paid growth. Key challenges include the lack of incrementality testing, uniform bidding across a hyper-local product nationwide, and inefficient testing methodologies. The opportunity lies in reclaiming significant annual efficiency through improved experiment design and analytical judgment, moving beyond basic platform operational precision.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in app UA, having independently run $30M+ per year
  • Ability to answer: “Given a system that reallocates budget automatically, how do you stop it from moving spend toward zero-incrementality inventory?”
  • Experience cutting spend that looked good in the dashboard but wasn't incremental
  • Ability to design own experiments, including power calculations and stopping rules
  • Managed 4+ people, including at least one non-buying function (analytics, creative, or engineering)
  • Knowing the Meta interface is table stakes

Responsibilities

  • Cross-channel budget reallocation grounded in incrementality
  • Standardizing how angles get tested, including pre-registered sample sizes, power calculations, success criteria, stopping rules, consistent controls, structured test logs, and strict separation of message and creative tests
  • Providing guardrails and supervision for the agentic bidding system, including approval thresholds, audit logs, rollback, enforced holdouts, and determining when to trust or intervene
  • Rolling out geo-tiered bidding
  • Extracting platform support, including representative support, lift studies, and alpha access
  • Rebalancing the team to ensure efficient task allocation, moving away from automated tasks

Benefits

  • Discretionary bonus
  • Stock options
