About The Position

Anthropic is seeking a Senior People Program Manager to manage complex, cross-cutting initiatives that span multiple teams and do not fit neatly into any single group's responsibilities. This role requires bringing structure, coordination, and follow-through to ensure these high-stakes decisions and initiatives are executed effectively as the company scales. The work involves strategic projects, including international expansion, where the manager will partner with existing teams to advance decisions, maintain coordination, and ensure a coherent company approach. Additionally, the role will tackle other ambiguous, cross-cutting problems that require rapid learning, structure creation, and successful completion. This is a high-autonomy position for an individual energized by variety, comfortable managing multiple distinct problems simultaneously, and adept at navigating complexity and ambiguity. While not expected to be a technical expert in every area, the successful candidate will excel at bringing people together, ensuring principled and well-documented decisions, and maintaining coherence over time. Success hinges on building trust and alignment among senior stakeholders with diverse priorities, as well as developing effective systems.

Requirements

  • Experience building or owning a decision-making process or governance framework for a complex, multi-stakeholder domain.
  • Ability to thrive on variety and manage multiple distinct, ambiguous problems concurrently without compromising outcomes.
  • Skill in guiding senior leaders with diverse working styles toward a shared, documented outcome, accommodating those who resist and those who prefer process.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to build enduring systems such as decision logs, playbooks, and documentation.
  • Capacity to quickly learn unfamiliar, complex domains, formulate pertinent questions, and identify when expert input is needed.
  • Ability to quickly build credibility with senior stakeholders across functions and deliver difficult messages while maintaining that credibility.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years in program management, business operations, chief of staff, or People/HR roles at a fast-growing company, with progressively increasing scope.
  • Experience owning a company-wide framework or policy across multiple stakeholders and maintaining its operational effectiveness through change.
  • A proven track record of managing multiple unrelated, high-stakes projects simultaneously.
  • Experience collaborating directly with senior finance or legal leaders on cross-functional decisions.
  • Background in international employment, entity formation, or global mobility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, cross-cutting projects from initiation to completion, identifying trade-offs, connecting overlapping efforts, and driving decisions to a clear, documented resolution.
  • Partner with teams driving international expansion to facilitate decision-making and maintain a coherent company approach during growth.
  • Undertake other strategic projects, including ambiguous, high-priority problems, requiring rapid learning, structure development, and successful execution.
  • Develop and maintain frameworks and documentation to ensure decisions are retained and accessible despite changing priorities and leadership.
  • Proactively identify complexity and set stakeholder expectations before company commitments are made, knowing when to involve appropriate expertise.
  • Manage a multi-workstream portfolio, ensuring timely communication to relevant stakeholders without becoming a bottleneck.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Optional equity donation matching
  • Generous vacation
  • Generous parental leave
  • Flexible working hours
  • Visa sponsorship
