About The Position

As the Senior People Business Partner, Engineering, you will be a strategic partner to senior Engineering leaders, including VPs and Senior Directors, helping them navigate change, mature their organizations, and build a healthy, high-performance culture. You will focus on Engineering-specific challenges such as evolving job architecture and leveling, supporting executive leadership transitions, and driving consistency in how Engineering talent is developed, calibrated, and grown across distributed teams. The role works globally, with particular focus on leaders across regions, and helps make complex transformations clear and manageable for leaders and teams. You will report into the PBP organization and work closely with peers, including current and former Engineering PBPs, to shape how GitLab's Engineering function operates as it grows. You will build trust with senior Engineering leaders, contribute to Engineering-wide processes such as calibrations and offsites, and help create cohesion across a leadership team of tenured and newer GitLab team members. The role suits someone comfortable with ambiguity and change in a fast-paced technology environment who wants to make a visible impact on how Engineering teams are structured and supported. The Engineering PBP team supports Engineering teams globally and partners with senior leaders whose teams are based across the US and EMEA. The team collaborates asynchronously with PBPs, Talent Management, and cross-functional partners on organization design, performance and calibration processes, culture, and leadership development. The position involves quarterly travel for Engineering and PBP offsites and collaborative forums, and significant working-hours overlap with US Central or East Coast time zones. GitLab roles are remote, though some may have location-based eligibility requirements. The listed US base salary range is $115,200–$194,400 USD and does not include bonuses, equity, or benefits.
