Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll tax and the regulatory environment, including federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations.
  • Ability to read, understand, and analyze highly complex regulatory payroll tax information.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex data, make determinations independently, and ensure appropriate payroll tax processing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Minimum of three years of multi-state, multi-jurisdiction, and high-volume Payroll Tax experience.
  • Minimum of one year of recent Senior, Lead, or Supervisor experience.
  • Hands-on tax return processing experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, federal, state, and local wage laws required.

Nice To Haves

  • PEO or related industry experience preferred.
  • MasterTax and Prism/HRP experience preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support between new division partners and internal tax departments by gathering and analyzing information from new divisions' staff and tax/payroll systems for integration.
  • Ensure the Payroll Tax department processes liability payments, tax returns, and notices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Complete assigned projects, including registrations for bulk filing and ACH Credit.
  • Participate in and lead projects to enhance the efficiency, speed, quality, and output of tax department processes and procedures.
  • Track and provide status updates on projects, maintaining project plans and monitoring overall project health.
  • Ensure projects meet deadlines.
  • Secure growth opportunities and initiate new projects.
  • Optimize and improve processes and the overall approach as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
