We’re seeking a Senior Payroll Manager to serve as a key member of our payroll function—combining hands‑on expertise with strategic leadership across payroll operations, tax compliance, SOX controls, and governance. This is a highly visible role that partners closely with HRIS, Finance, Accounting, Internal Audit, and external agencies to deliver payroll with precision and accountability. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or related field of study from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education
  • 7+ years of payroll experience, including: Multi-state payroll; Large corporate payroll environments; Payroll audit involvement.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state and federal payroll laws, wage & hour regulations, and tax reporting.
  • Exceptional integrity, confidentiality, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and prioritization skills.
  • Experience applying structured process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for payroll operations, taxes, statutory reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review, approve, and validate payroll calculations, deductions, adjustments, and off-cycle transactions.
  • Resolve complex payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and escalated issues.
  • Administer and maintain Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX) payroll controls, documentation, and remediation.
  • Conduct payroll reconciliations, variance analysis, and integrity checks.
  • Lead internal, external, and regulatory audit coordination.
  • Manage year-end activities, including W-2 processing and ACA reporting (Forms 1094-C/1095-C).
  • Collaborate with HRIS, Finance, and Accounting on system changes, data accuracy, and compliance impacts.
  • Maintain detailed process documentation supporting internal controls and audit readiness.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and strengthen control frameworks.
  • Provide recommendations on payroll governance and policy updates.
