Join OEC's HR team as a Senior Payroll Compliance Analyst, owning payroll accuracy, compliance, and process innovation across North America. This role suits an experienced professional comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, acting as the primary subject matter expert on payroll compliance matters. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Accounting, or related field (equivalent experience considered)
  • 4+ years of multi-state payroll experience with deep knowledge of payroll rules, regulations, and compliance across North America
  • Proven ability to own complex problems end-to-end, with strong critical thinking and a bias toward practical solutions
  • Proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems, Dayforce and reporting tools strongly preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail, documentation habits, and time management in a fast-moving, small-company environment
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Discretion in handling confidential information
  • Comfort thriving in a remote/hybrid environment with camera-on virtual meetings
  • Some travel to our corporate office may be required (10%)
  • Availability to work Eastern Time zone hours is required

Responsibilities

  • Guide payroll processing and provide expert recommendations across the company
  • Lead payroll reconciliations and system integration audits, spotting trends and resolving discrepancies to keep the team audit-ready.
  • Support timely responses to payroll and IRS tax notices; assist with employer registrations under federal, state, local, and Canadian provincial law
  • Own payroll-adjacent compliance areas including 401(k) match calculations, EEO reporting, and workers' compensation requirements across multiple states
  • Prepare payroll and finance reports (gross payroll, hours worked, PTO accrual, tax and benefit deductions) for budgeting and internal/external audits
  • Administer variable compensation programs, including Annual and Executive Incentive Plans, Profit Sharing Plan, Merit Increase Program, and 401(k) Company Match
  • Maintain data integrity across wages, benefits, 401(k), and PTO, documenting processes clearly for consistency and audit readiness
  • Champion process improvements through system optimization and automation
  • Support payroll, HR, and operations during mergers & acquisitions
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing, including administering and committing payroll runs
