About The Position

Caterpillar’s Law, Security & Public Policy Division is seeking a Senior Paralegal to join its Intellectual Property team. The position provides legal support and coordinates projects for corporate attorneys, working directly with IP attorneys. Work is assigned according to its complexity and the candidate’s prior experience, and is performed under the direction of various attorneys. The role supports and protects the organization through legal tasks and special projects. It is based in Peoria, Illinois, and requires working onsite five days a week. Domestic and international travel of up to 5% may be required.

Requirements

• Previous paralegal experience.
• Accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to complete tasks precisely.
• Knowledge of confidentiality practices and policies, and the ability to apply them appropriately.
• Effective communication skills, including accurately conveying and interpreting information and needs.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and allocate time effectively.
• Document management skills, including securely categorizing, integrating, updating, documenting, and distributing business information.
• Legal analysis skills, including the ability to read and interpret legal and factual information and draw accurate conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Administer the NDA process and manage escalations.
• Manage legal matters, documentation, and records.
• Maintain templates, playbooks, and knowledge resources.
• Coordinate across functions and support stakeholders.
• Support matters involving departed employees, confidentiality, and enforcement.
• Resolve process exceptions, ownership gaps, and non-routine requests.
• Coordinate end-to-end workflows and legal matters.
