About The Position

The Senior Paralegal will handle a range of responsibilities under the general direction of the General Counsel and Company legal counsel. This role involves supporting various legal functions including claims and litigation, corporate and compliance, legal operations, and contracting. The Senior Paralegal will play a key role in managing legal processes, ensuring compliance, and supporting the overall legal priorities of the company.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • 8+ years’ experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, and the ability to prioritize and complete tasks

Responsibilities

  • Assist counsel in the management of liability claims, litigation and title issues
  • Investigate facts, research documents, research external sources (e.g., internet, municipal codes, etc.) and interview relevant witnesses
  • Coordinate with insurance brokers and carriers to ensure timely claims notice and proactive claims management
  • Communicate with Company personnel, legal counsel, claims personnel, and other parties to gather relevant information and respond to routine inquiries
  • Coordinate responses to subpoenas and legal claims under the direction of counsel
  • Summarize pertinent information from various sources for the purpose of evaluating claims, briefing the General Counsel, preparing discovery responses (e.g., interrogatories, requests for admission, and document subpoenas), implementing claims strategies, facilitating the execution of affidavits and negotiating small claim settlements
  • Maintain and update databases that track key litigation developments, expenses and legal holds
  • Analyze litigation data and prepare litigation reports
  • Monitor the status of real estate and broker licensing compliance
  • Serve as point of contact and liaison between the Legal & Compliance Department and others for legal and compliance related information
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, and legal policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with others as needed to assist with entity formations, draft corporate resolutions and perform other corporate tasks
  • Assist with subsidiary management of various corporate entities
  • Identify areas for improved efficiencies in legal processes, recommend solutions (including technology solutions where appropriate) and work collaboratively with others to implement those solutions and manage them going forward
  • Organize and support legal and compliance presentations, meetings and training sessions
  • Assist with managing and maintaining the Department's electronic file database and website
  • Generate data and reports for the department as requested
  • Conduct legal research and special projects in support of the Company’s legal priorities
  • Proactively identify and address business needs and obstacles
  • Coordinate and assist effective liability insurance program renewals
  • Further paralegal type duties to be assigned based ability and experience
  • Support contract review process, including document revisions, follow-up, organizing and circulating feedback and revisions to appropriate parties, monitoring contract review process, monitoring deadlines, and escalating issues when needed
  • Track status of contract documents through fully executed agreement
  • Coordinate execution of approved documents and distribute documents both internally and externally
  • Maintain database of contracts, standard contracts, standard lease documents, legal forms, policies and procedures
  • Identify and resolve minor contract issues

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $89,680.00 - $149,460.00
