About The Position

We are seeking a paralegal to assist in managing certain litigation and transactional matters, and to assist in the administration and execution of the Business Ethics Program, on behalf of AutoNation, Inc. and its operating subsidiaries (“AutoNation”) using discretion and independent judgment with limited supervision.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of five years performing paralegal duties, including litigation-related duties, is required.
  • The candidate must hold a paralegal certificate.
  • The candidate must be detail oriented, have a professional attitude, work well in team collaboration and have exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • The candidate must meet the Company’s requirements for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate will have more than five years of experience as a paralegal with a focus on litigation, either with a large law firm, in-house legal department, or public company.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing paralegal support in connection with the management of certain litigation and presuit matters, including employment litigation, charges of discrimination, agency wage claims, and presuit matters, with limited oversight. This includes reviewing and evaluating pleadings, legal orders, and other legal documents to ensure proper handling, drafting certain legal documents, inputting case information in the Company’s litigation matter management system (currently Legal Tracker), participating in fact finding, coordinating and/or responding to certain discovery requests, tracking case results and costs, corresponding with outside counsel and providing other general case management assistance.
  • Responsible for providing paralegal support on various transactional projects with limited oversight, including assisting in the management of certain operational and legal forms.
  • Responsible for assisting a Vice President with the administration and execution of the Business Ethics Program with limited oversight, including Board of Directors and executive reporting, Code of Business Ethics and Policy development, and online training course development.
  • Responsible for evaluating and ensuring appropriate handling of a variety of other miscellaneous legal matters as they arise and performing other legal duties as assigned.
