As a Senior Protection and Control (P&C) Engineer, you will be working with a team of P&C detailed designers and contribute to large-scale electrical energy projects. You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and develop skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, particularly on substation, hydroelectric power station, and renewable energy projects, with numerous clients across Canada.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Electrical engineering
  • Registered (or eligible to register as) member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EBGC) or that of a recognized Professional Engineering Association in Canada
  • More than 12 years of relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is mandatory
  • Work experience in the design of electrical systems
  • 4+ years experience in detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities in Canada
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Basic knowledge of the office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Autonomous, resourceful, and enjoys teamwork

Responsibilities

  • Design and review Control and Protection systems for both utility and industry projects
  • Approve and review project deliverables, including detail design drawings, P&C one line diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedule and equipment sizing, etc.
  • Collaborate with members of the engineering team as well as project managers from other disciplines
  • Prepare project plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications provided
  • Responsible of the development of electrical Control and Protection systems, including single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, three-line AC diagrams, protection and c.c. control diagrams, wiring drawings, device connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists and quotes for the manufacturing and installation on site of Control and Protection panels
  • Supervise the development of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, AC & DC load calculations, AC & DC distribution diagrams, connection drawings of chargers, batteries, inverter, etc.
  • Participate in site surveys (stations and power stations)
  • Coordinating with other discipline as the Protection and control project engineer
  • Performing protection coordination study, relay settings and logic files
  • Supervising on the joiner engineers work and deliverables and provide guidance to them
  • Prepare commissioning specifications, field review plan and and NERC CIP documents
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines: equipment, civil, mechanical and building in order to develop design solutions for optimized and advanced substation and power plant systems
  • Possibility of carrying out site work sporadically when the opportunity arises (start-up or monitoring)
