About The Position
Apple's Media, Graphics & Compute Technologies (MGCT) division provides the media and graphics foundation for all Apple products. The AVKit Engineering team within MGCT is responsible for the media playback user interface across these products. This team implements media application frameworks that support the playback and editing of audiovisual media, including local media playback, video-on-demand, and live streaming. The AVKit framework is utilized across various Apple products like Safari, TV, Photos, Music, FaceTime, and iMovie, as well as by third-party developers on all platforms. The team is seeking a Senior Engineer with a strong technical and programming background, excellent communication skills, and experience in the media domain to contribute to building innovative media playback experiences.
Requirements
- 5+ years of programming experience, preferably in Objective-C and Swift.
- Deep knowledge of Operating System design and concepts.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to crisply and clearly explain advanced concepts.
- Proficiency in developing with Cocoa or other application frameworks.
- BS or MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

- Expertise in triaging and resolving complex bugs.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Excellent understanding of optimization and performance issues across OS software layers.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement new features for media playback UI across Apple's products.
- Develop UI APIs for adoption by both Apple and third-party developers.
- Collaborate closely with other engineering and design teams to implement system media UIs.
