About The Position

UCI Health is a large academic health system in California, part of the University of California, Irvine. It includes multiple hospitals and a network of ambulatory care centers. UCI Health is recognized for its comprehensive cancer center, Level I trauma center, geriatric emergency department, and burn center. It serves a large population across several counties through patient care, research, and medical education. This role involves performing clinical assessments and care management for orthopedic outpatients. The incumbent will present patient data to physicians, remove sutures, apply and remove casts and splints, collect and record patient data, and provide patient instructions. The position also involves monitoring patient flow during clinic hours and requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care (neonate, pediatric, adult, or geriatric). A positive attitude and excellent customer service are essential.

Requirements

Understanding of medical terminology
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Minimum 2 years experience working as an Orthopaedic Technician
Medical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency / Recognition in Medical Assisting Clinical / Back Office
Knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of the duties assigned to the position
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Current Orthopaedic Technologist Certified (OTC) from National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists, or Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT) certification from the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals
BLS certification upon hire
Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
