Senior Organizer: Data Center Campaign
About The Position
New Virginia Majority (NVM) is seeking a full-time Senior Organizer to develop and execute organizing strategy and campaigns focused on stopping the negative impacts of data centers in Virginia. The role involves recruiting community members, developing leaders, building and supporting community-based leadership teams, and co-creating campaign strategy. The ideal candidate has experience in leading and winning issue-based campaigns at the local and state levels. The work will focus on fighting new data centers planned for the I-95 corridor between Prince William County and Henrico County. Applicants can be based along the corridor or work out of our Richmond or Northern Virginia offices. Driving will be required for this campaign.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a paid organizer
- Demonstrated experience in leading organizing direct action and legislative campaigns
- Committed to New Virginia Majority’s mission of social, racial and economic justice
- Ability to develop and maintain a variety of relationships
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Demonstrated Experience organizing in communities of color
- Ability to take direction and receive constructive feedback.
- Driver’s license and access to a car.
- A minimum one-year commitment to the position.

Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with community members
- Train and develop NVM members - develop leaders within data center campaigns
- Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations, elected officials and community members that will help advance overall organizing campaigns
- Timely follow up with leads including one-on-one meetings, phone calls and house visits
- Track progress and engagement of members and activists
- Develop member / leader agency through popular education, reflection, and action.
- Participate in campaign development, strategizing and implementation.
- Participate in building campaign coalitions and key relationships with campaign-related allies.
- Perform other duties as required.
